I was just asked "Are there going to be accounts? Like here on the Vex site?"

I have not previously explained "what" I was planning on doing, but I was not planning anything that "elaborate".  The following "explanation" is sometime "General" and sometimes "Specific"..

Between VexForum, VexFan and Chief Delphi, I think there are enough "forums". I was thinking of more like "Vex Related" Tutorials, Examples, and Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ).  I also have some other related but not "Vex Specific" things like 'C' Programming, "Coding Standards" (AKA Best Practices), and Trouble Shooting Skills. "Trouble Shooting Skills" are something that most people just never seem to discover, and can be applied in ANY Job or Hobby. I use Phrases like "Known Good Working Unit" (KGWU) and "Functional Test" (FT) and "Full Functional Test" (FFT), and a new one I just discovered, "Limited Functional Test" (LFT).

On the matter of "What I want to do" verses "What is available", I give this example: The FAQ section at VexForum is actually multiple Posts, which "if" the Search Engine is "good", you can locate what you need to know.  But the "traditional" FAQ has everything (or everything of a related subject) in one file, you can read the "Table of Contents" at the top of the File, and then Search or Scroll-Down to the entry.

I think (personal opinion), that if you are not quiet sure what you are looking for, a Broad Search (e.g. Google or the Search Engine on a Site like VexForum) will "pull in" data (e.g. information) of what you "generally" need, to let you "narrow down" your choices to "what" you are looking for.

Information in a "traditional" FAQ (or two or five), especial with HTML (that can have "anchors" in the text), you can link them together in a "smoother manner" than the Info currently at VexForum, or at VexFan, or Chief Delphi lack.  Just look at the number of Questions, Newbies (AKA Noobies) ask, when there already was an answer, they were just "overwhelmed" with the structure of the "forum", and not knowing where to look.  Everyone comes to a "place", (Vex in this case) with a different level of Skills and Experiences.  The more Skills and Experiences you have, the more you "just need to know", HOW something is done, not the WHAT or WHY or WHERE.

I was just checking my Web Hosting, I seem to have some sort of Chatroom and a Bulletin_Board (forum/BB system), but I am not ready to start "that up", yet.

Did you have some ideas that you think could/should be addressed with Vex??   Send me an e-mail at vex@markoverholser.com
